Critical Materials present at Simulia User’s Meeting in Madrid

Critical Materials presented to an internal case-study entitled Viscoelastic Modelling of Composite Materials in the Frequency Domain, focusing on the theoretical and practical aspects of constitutive modeling of viscoelastic materials in the frequency domain.
Using Abaqus Standard as the FE code, this work intends to compare conventional constitutive modelling of materials (via Young Modulus, fraction of critical damping ζ, modal damping or Rayleigh damping) in the frequency domain with the modelling of material’s viscoelastic response directly by the definition of the storage modulus E’ (ω), dissipative modulus E’’ (ω) and tan (δ), obtained from experimental forced response techniques such as DMA – Dynamic Mechanical Analysis.
During the conference, Critical Materials presented SPA-Signal Processing in Abaqus, a signal processing tool that enables signal processing operations (e.g., FFT,PSD, CSD, Transfer functions) completely embedded in Abaqus CAE platform.
