SAE Committee HM-1 IVHM
25 Apr 2011
Critical Materials is a part of the SAE Committee HM-1, developing the next generation normative frame work of IVHM of aerospace platforms. Integrated Vehicle Health Management is an end-to end capability that transforms system data into operational support information enabling:
- Optimized maintenance actions
- Improved readiness and availability
- Enhanced Vehicle safety and reliability
- Product life extension
- Product improvement and new design paradigms
SAE International is experienced in developing, administering, and globally harmonizing standards for the aerospace and ground vehicle industries. In addition to technical standards, specifications and recommended practices applying to and across the aerospace and ground vehicle industries, SAE has current aerospace standards developing committees for:
- Propulsion Health Management
- Structural Health Management
- Reliability, Maintainability, Supportability and Probabilistic Methods
- Landing Gear Health Monitoring Systems
- Helicopter Powerplant
There are clear requirements for technical standardization to support, guide and advance the realization of Integrated Vehicle Health Management - through the definition of parameters and a common taxonomy, for the development and coordination of health management systems on platform and fleet levels and to provide the technical guidance necessary to support regulation of health management and Integrated Vehicle Health Management.
SAE International has recognized these benefits and through the leadership of those involved with health management standards within the SAE Aerospace Standards program, the SAE Aerospace Council has approved the formation of Technical Committee HM-1.
